Pilgrimage Itinerary

Day 1 | October 1 | Depart Omaha

Depart from Chicago on our overnight flights to Europe. Meals served on flight.

Day 2 | October 2 | Arrive Ljubljana

Upon arrival in Ljubljana, we will be met by our tour manager who will be with us for the duration of our pilgrimage. Depending upon our arrival time, we may have a brief overview of the city on our way to Mass. Afterwards, we will transfer to our hotel for check-in, dinner, and overnight. (D) Mass – Overnight Ljubljana

Day 3 | October 3 | Ljubljana

After breakfast, we journey to the Central Market area where we travel by funicular railway to the 15th-century Ljubljana Castle, where we enjoy a guided tour. Upon return to the Central Market area, we will explore the Old Town, including several of the city’s beautiful bridges and squares. We’ll pass by the Robba Fountain and the Vurnik House, one of the most famous buildings in Ljubljana. We will also visit the Cathedral of St. Nicholas, where we will have time for prayer before continuing to a local wine bar for wine tasting. Afterwards, we return to our hotel for dinner and overnight. (B, D, Mass) Overnight Ljubljana

Day 4 | October 4 | Ljubljana (day trip to Lake Bled)

A short drive from Ljubljana lies the Alpine Lake Bled. Besides the charming town along the lakeshore, we will visit Bled Castle, the oldest in Slovenia. We will also journey across the lake via pletna boats to visit the Church of the Assumption of Mary on an island a little way offshore. After time in Bled, we return to Ljubljana for dinner and overnight. (B, D, Mass) Overnight Ljubljana

Day 5 | October 5 | Ljubljana / Kurešček / Zadar

After an early breakfast, we depart our hotel in Ljubljana and journey a short distance to Kurešček, where the shrine to Our Lady Queen of Peace was rebuilt by France Spelic. After a brief tour and time for prayer, we continue our journey south to Zadar where we check into our hotel for dinner and overnight. (B, D, Mass) Overnight Zadar

Day 6 | October 6 | Zadar

Spend today in Zadar, the oldest continuously inhabited city in Croatia and home to the relics of Simeon, to whom the Lord was presented in the Temple on His 8th day. Our first church we visit today is the Church of St. Simeon, which holds his incorruptible mummified body in a sarcophagus above the altar. This afternoon, we journey to the Cathedral of St. Anastasia to venerate her stone sarcophagus near the high altar. Afterwards, enjoy a guided tour of the Church of St. Elias, containing a wonderful collection of icons dating from the 16th-18th century. (B, D, Mass) Overnight Zadar

Day 7 | October 7 | Zadar / Trogir / Medjugorje

After breakfast, we check out of our hotel and journey to the charming UNESCO Heritage town of Trogir. Built upon a tiny island, there is evidence it has been continuously inhabited since a Greek settlement was built in the 3rd century BC. The area is extremely walkable and we will enjoy some free time here before continuing to Medjugorje where we will check into our hotel for dinner and overnight. (B, D, Mass) Overnight Medjugorje

Day 8 | October 8 | Medjugorje

On our first full day in Medjugorje, Ann will provide you with a comprehensive orientation about Medjugorje and the apparitions, and you will be a given a brief tour of the area, so that you are familiar with everything.

We will have two meals each day at our pansion (breakfast every morning, and either lunch or dinner, depending on the events scheduled that day). There are many restaurants in Medjugorje for people who may wish to have a third meal each day.

Many of the activities will be subject to availability and weather. You will always have the option of participating in group activities or spending time by yourself. These activities include:

  • Attending the Holy Mass in English every day at St. James church (usually at 10:00 am), with English speaking pilgrims from throughout the world.
  • Participating in the international program of prayer each evening, which includes the Rosary, Sacrament of Reconciliation, international Mass for all pilgrims, prayers for healing, and Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament.
  • Climbing Apparition Hill, site where Our Lady first appeared to the visionaries.
  • Climbing Cross Mountain; praying the Stations of the Cross as we ascend to the summit.
  • Visiting the Divine Mercy chapel in Surmanci, Siroki Brijeg, and the Convent of the School Sisters in Miletina
  • Hearing talks by priests, visionaries, and other locals, when possible.
  • Free time for shopping, so that you can bring back a piece of Medjugorje to your loved ones at home, and private reflection.
