Pilgrimage Itinerary

Day 1 | May 12 | U.S.A. / Mexico City

Today marks the beginning of our pilgrimage as we depart on our flight to Mexico City. Upon arrival at the airport in Mexico we will be met by our local guide who will be with us for the duration of our pilgrimage. Time permitting, we enjoy a brief overview tour of the city before checking into our centrally located hotel for dinner and overnight. (D)

Day 2 | May 13 | Mexico City – Plaza of the Three Cultures, Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe

After breakfast, we will drive to the Plaza of the Three Cultures to see the ancient ruins and the place where St. Juan Diego was baptized. Continue to the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe, the holiest place in the Western Hemisphere, for an introductory guided tour of the Basilica and the surrounding grounds, including the old Basilica, Tepeyac Hill Indian Church, the Church of the Well, and the Monument of the Offerings. Mass will be celebrated at one of the side altars. (B, D, Mass) Overnight Mexico City

Day 3 | May 14 | Mexico City – Tulpetlac, Acolman, Teotihuacan

We begin our day with a drive to Tulpetlac, the site of the 5th apparition to Saint Juan Diego’s uncle, Juan Bernardino. Then proceed to the Monastery of Acolman where we will celebrate Mass. Journey to Teotihuacan to visit the Pyramids of the Sun and Moon, before returning to Mexico City. City. (B, D, Mass) Overnight Mexico City

Day 4 | May 15 | Mexico City / Puebla

This morning, we drive outside of Mexico City to the Shrine of San Miguel del Milagro, the site of miraculous apparitions of St. Michael to Diego Lazaro in 1631. We will pray the St. Michael the Archangel prayer and visit the well of healing waters. We will then proceed to the Shrine and Sanctuary of Our Lady of Octolan. Here Our Lady appeared to Juan Diego Bernardino in 1541 and left her miraculous statue in a burnt tree. Our next stop will be in Puebla where we will pray at the Santo Domingo Church and the Capilla del Rosario. Overnight in Puebla. (B, D, Mass) Overnight Puebla

Day 5 | May 16 | Puebla / Cholula / Puebla

Drive to Cholula, known for its 365 churches – one for every day of the year! Here we visit the Iglesia de Santa Maria Tonantzintla and the Iglesia de Los Remedios (Our Lady of the Remedies), built on the famous pyramid of Cholula. Return to Puebla, where we venerate the incorrupt body of Blessed Sebastian of Aparicio, the “Angel of Mexico” and a patron of travelers. We will also visit the smaller Parroquia de la Santa Cruz (Church of the Holy Cross) before returning to our hotel in Puebla for the evening. (B, D, Mass) Overnight Puebla

Day 6 | May 17 | Puebla / Mexico City

Depart Puebla this morning and return to Mexico City. Upon arrival, we will proceed to the Metropolitan Cathedral in the historic center, where we will celebrate Mass. Afterwards, we will walk around the Zocalo, the Palacio Nacional, and the Templo Mayor (outside visit). Then enjoy a tour of some of the interesting sights of Mexico City including the House of Tiles and Reforma Avenue. In addition, we will visit Bl. Miguel Pro’s relics in the Church of the Holy Family and take a leisurely walk in Chapultepec Park to view the Don Quixote Fountain. (B, D, Mass) Overnight Mexico City

Day 7 | May 18 | Mexico City – Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe, Torre Latinoamericana, Museo del Tequila y Mezcal

This morning, we will return to the Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe for a second visit. After visiting the church on the top of Tepeyac Hill where St. Juan Diego collected the roses, we will have time for prayer, private devotions, and shopping for religious articles. In the afternoon we will visit the Torre Latinoamericana for a panoramic view of Mexico City, followed by an informative visit to the Museum of Tequila y Mezcal. This evening, we will enjoy a festive farewell dinner at a local restaurant. (B, D, Mass) Overnight Mexico City

Day 8 | May 19 | Mexico City / U.S.A.

After breakfast we will transfer to the airport to catch our return flight home, taking with us all the graces and blessings of this pilgrimage. (B)
