Pilgrimage Itinerary

Day 1 | November 9 | U.S.A. / Mexico City

Today marks the beginning of our pilgrimage as we depart on our flight to Mexico City. Upon arrival at the airport in Mexico City we will be met by our local guide, who will be with us for the duration of our pilgrimage. Time permitting, we enjoy a brief overview city tour before checking into our centrally located hotel for dinner and overnight. (D) Overnight Mexico City

Day 2 | November 10 | Mexico City

After breakfast, we will drive to the Plaza of the Three Cultures to see the ancient ruins and the site where St. Juan Diego was baptized. Continue to the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe, the holiest place in the Western Hemisphere, for an introductory guided tour of the Basilica and the surrounding grounds, including the old Basilica, Tepeyac Hill Indian Church, the Church of the Well, and the Monument of the Offerings. Pending confirmation, Mass will be celebrated at one of the side altars of the Basilica. Afterwards, we return to our hotel for dinner and overnight. (B, D) Overnight Mexico City

Day 3 | November 11 | Mexico City

Today we journey to Tulpetlac, the site of the 5th apparition to Saint Juan Diego’s uncle, Juan Bernardino. Then proceed to the former Augustinian convent in Acolman. Built in the 16th century, it is known for its unique murals – some of the earliest in the region. Continue to Teotihuacan to visit the Mayan Pyramids of the Sun and Moon. Return to Mexico City. (B, D) Overnight Mexico City

Day 4 | November 12 | Mexico City / Puebla

We check out of our hotel this morning and leave Mexico City for a couple of days. First, travel to the Shrine of San Miguel del Milagro, the site of miraculous apparitions of St. Michael to Diego Lazaro in 1631. We will pray the St. Michael the Archangel prayer and visit the well of healing waters. We will then proceed to the Shrine and Sanctuary of Our Lady of Ocotlan. Here Our Lady appeared to Juan Diego Bernardino in 1541 and left her miraculous statue in a burnt tree. Our next stop will be in Puebla where we will pray at the Santo Domingo Church and visit the Capilla del Rosario. We then heck into our hotel for dinner and overnight. (B, D) Overnight Puebla

Drive to Cholula, known for its 365 churches – one for every day of the year! Here we visit the Iglesia de Santa Maria Tonantzintla and the Iglesia de Los Remedios (Our Lady of the Remedies), built on the famous pyramid of Cholula. Return to Puebla, where we venerate the incorrupt body of Blessed Sebastian of Aparicio, the “Angel of Mexico” and a patron of travelers. We will also visit the smaller Parroquia de la Santa Cruz (Church of the Holy Cross) before returning to our hotel in Puebla for the evening. (B, D) Overnight Puebla

Depart Puebla this morning and return to Mexico City. Upon arrival, we proceed to the Metropolitan Cathedral.
